Updated – 10th December 2025

Tracking India’s gold accumulation across governments and global events.

Over the last two and a half decades, India’s gold reserves have undergone a remarkable transformation – from just 357 tonnes in 2000 to nearly 880 tonnes by early 2025.

According to the latest RBI Weekly Statistical Supplement (as of 31 October 2025), the country’s official gold reserves remain steady at around 880 tonnes, reflecting continuity in India’s long-term reserve strategy despite global market volatility.

This steady accumulation reflects not just financial strategy but also the economic confidence of successive governments.

Here’s a visual journey of India’s gold reserves, alongside the ruling political leadership reserves from 2000 to 2025, with colored dots indicating the ruling government:

  • Orange dots = BJP-led government
