PM Modi Launches ₹693 Cr Fisheries Projects Across India

New Delhi, 11 Oct 2025 – As per the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, the Prime Minister launched and laid foundations for 16 fisheries projects worth ₹693 crore to strengthen India’s Blue Economy and coastal livelihoods.

Key Highlights:

  • 16 fisheries projects launched and foundation laid under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) – total investment ₹693.80 crore.

  • 7 new projects worth ₹572 crore foundation laid and 9 projects worth ₹121 crore inaugurated across 9 states and UTs.

  • Major projects include:
    • Trout Fisheries Project, Uttarakhand (₹170 crore) – to expand trout fish production and local jobs.
    • Smart & Integrated Fishing Harbour, Karaikal, Puducherry (₹119.94 crore) – advanced docking, hygienic handling, export-quality fish.
    • Integrated Aqua Park, Hirakud, Odisha (₹100 crore) – supports 1,600 cages, benefits 1,700 farmers, trains 700 youth.
    • Nutrition Hub of Sustainable Aquaculture, Amethi (₹70 crore) – eco-friendly fish feed and income support for small farmers.

  • Other states with projects include Nagaland, Assam, Jharkhand, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Madhya Pradesh.

  • Over 50 progressive fish farmers from 100 Aspirational Agricultural Districts participated; 8 farmers interacted directly with PM Modi.

The ₹693 crore investment under PMMSY and FIDF represents a strong push for India’s Blue Revolution – creating rural jobs, modernizing fisheries infrastructure, and increasing exports. By integrating technology, training, and sustainability, these projects mark a key step toward doubling farmers’ income and advancing India’s Blue Economy vision by 2030.
