India Launches Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 to Protect Student’s Health

As per PIB’s 8 Oct 2025 release, the Government of India is launching “Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0” – a 60-day national drive led by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to build a tobacco-free learning environment and protect students’ health across India.

The campaign aims to empower youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and move closer to the vision of a tobacco-free generation under Viksit Bharat@2047.

  • Launch Date: 9th October 2025, led by Ministry of Education in collaboration with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
  • Tobacco use in India claims 13 lakh lives annually; 8.4% of students aged 13–15 currently use tobacco products.
  • Campaign Duration: 60 days, focusing on education, prevention, counselling, and community awareness.
  • Key Activities: Enforcement of tobacco-free zones, workshops for teachers and volunteers, student counselling, competitions, and educational video dissemination.
