New Delhi, 6 Oct 2025, India’s telecom sector continued its steady expansion in August 2025, with total telephone subscribers rising to 122.45 crore, driven primarily by the wireless segment. The overall tele-density reached 86.40%, reflecting ongoing connectivity gains across both urban and rural areas.

  • Total subscribers: 122.45 crore (up from 122.00 crore in July)
  • Wireless subscribers: 117.80 crore (+0.61 crore; +0.52%)
  • Wireline subscribers: 4.65 crore (–0.16 crore; –3.34%)
  • Broadband users: 98.96 crore (+0.50%)
  • Urban tele-density: 134.51%
  • Rural tele-density: 59.31%
